You see, vitamin C is only useful to us when it's in the L-ascorbic form, even though it is more difficult to stabilize.

Other derivatives of vit C such as ascorbyl palmitate and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, though easier to stabilize, cannot be absorbed by our body, thus rendering them useless, even if we take them in large amounts.

As L-ascorbic acid, vit C can help protect our skin against the harmful rays of the sun by neutralizing the free radicals with the antioxidants found in it.

Since it cannot be washed off or removed once absorbed, it is a good companion for sunscreen.

Vitamin C has also been proven to increase the synthesis of collagen which in turn helps defy the signs of aging. Collagen gives our skin the elasticity and restores the natural "shape", thus help prevent the formation of wrinkles.
