The Right Acne Medicine
Can Help You Get Rid of Acne
Are you considering consuming or applying acne medicine to help you get rid of acne and acne scars from your face?
Well, before you head on down to your local drugstore and get your hands on whatever's available, it is a good idea to know what options you have, and how different types of acne medication work.
It typically takes a month or two before you can see if any of the medicine actually works.
While some over the counter medication can work for mild cases of acne, stronger prescriptions might be required if your acne condition is more severe.
Here's a list of the main ingredients that most topical over-the-counter medication should contain:
- Benzoyl Peroxide
- Resorcinol
- Salicylic Acid
- Sulfur
- "Herbal," "Organic" and "Natural" Products
Of course, some works better than others, and some feels more comfortable to the skin than the rest.
For more serious acne, a visit to the dermatologist may be a good idea.
He/she may then prescribe one or more of the following acne medicine:
- Topical antimicrobials
- Topical retinoids
- Oral antibiotics
- Oral contraceptives
